さよなら

Pretty in pink. (=^-^=)

Went to visit Gretchen, Emily and Cloe last week and they decided to dress Laura and I up in lolita, though not just any lolita, pink Lolita. As many of you know pink and myself really don't go well together, though on this occasion I thought it looked rather cute. Laura also tends to avoid these baby pastels, so they dressed her super adorable.

My favorite lolita brand is Baby the Stars Shine Bright which the bunny backpack is from.

Discoveries 発見

Things I discovered this week include my Baku who now eats all my nightmares, including those from the new show I discovered Hannibal. Hannibal was so naughty in his middle-age and I  enjoy his more mature self in Silence of the Lambs.  Sure, he is clever and charming though I don't enjoy him having blood on his hands and performing lavish acts for show without consuming all of them.

Though some of his dishes look amazing. Would it be creepy to ask someone to make some of them for me? (not with the complete original ingredients of course)

Also discovered these Saki ika which no doubt my parents will be delighted to try I'm sure. Possibly I will pick them some up from a convenience store once they get to Japan.

 Tasty!

さよなら=Goodbye

Last night we had the goodbye party for An-chan and Akemi, two of the girls who were in my J4 class. It was hard to think about them going home and I don't think the fact that they won't be coming back to Ihouse has sunk in yet.  :( Hopefully they had a safe trip home and I wish them all the best for the future. ^_^

Food was tasty and my favorite dish this time was the edamame and macaroni bake that Mann made. As always everyone made tasty food, there was even yakiniku.  I made cookies with yellow iceing.

So there you go. Brief update of the past few days.

Next time I update I should have news of my parents visit. ^_^ Booked the tickets to Tokyo to meet them, today. Not long now.

動物園 Zoo

お決まり
This morning after 4 hours of tangled sheets and dreams, I woke with one wish.Going to the zoo.
7:30 looked to be bringing a perfect day with sunshine and almost no clouds to threaten rain.

Hair washed and exercise done, was out of Ihouse by 9am, had my 一日常証券 (daily ticket) and arrived at 東山動植物園 (Higashiyama Zoo)  by 10am. 640yen saw me in with Sky Tower included.

First up were the cranes, primates and wolves. They had Timber Wolves, though they did not look nearly as happy as the one on the beach. The highlight of this area were the Capybara , Prairie dogs and Brazilian Baku. In Japan, the spirit Baku is said to eat dreams.

スカイタワー Sky Tower

Chatted with a young boy about Pokemon briefly before getting into the elevator.
7th floor was a 360 degree view of the Zoo with Nagoya surrounding.
9th was the restaurant.

Lunch was a selection of pasta, pizzas and salads, drinks and cake.

Sipping my Rosehip and Hibiscus tea, eating my cakes (Cherry Tart, Chocolate sponge and mousse and Cheese cake) and looking out across Nagoya was a pleasant feeling that I hope to encounter again.

Was feeling on top of the world and super relaxed. Won't you share a tea with me next time?

Next were the crocks, reptiles and turtles. The lizards are ever fascinating, especially those marked basilisks and the amphibious newts and salamanders are always a delight to see. " It's adorable" said one lady to the corn snake. No Australian crocks, though there was a rather impressive Alligator.

No pictures of the nocturnal mammals, though I assure you there were Fennic Foxes and I spent a good few moments with my face pressed to the glass.

Today was hot and no other animal knew it more so than the polar bear. Looks like he would love some ice and snow.

狸様はどこだろう?Tanuki, where are you?

Traveled to the kids section for a stamp to complete my collection, though noticed that the tanuki were also housed there. I waited....and  waited....and...well..just gave up. Gotta love those tanuki.

Walked straight past the Koalas, hopped past the Kangaroos, laughed at the Kookaburras and didn't lift a feather to wave to the Cockatoo. Love you guys, but it's only been 5 months for gosh sakes.

Lions and tigers and bears (and snow leopards) . Oh my!. Always feel a little sad for the bears as they seem to be kept in some of the most uncomfortable looking enclosures.

Elephants, rinos giraffes and my mother's favorite deer.

One last trip past the gift store to grab some little things for you all and a new plush. Still deciding on a name for my new Baku, though it's sure to eat all my dreams and find them rather sweet.

Home, showered and writing. Now you are up to date with my day. Today was fantastic despite going alone. Next time I would love to take you to the zoo with me.

There is mail on the way for a few of you, so please keep an eye out for it in the next week or so.
Please ignore the return address as it's wrong, instead use the one on my blog.

Tomorrow I'm playing dressups with Gretchen and Emily o.0  Not sure what this entails, though i'm sure it will be fun.

 秋 - Touch of Autumn

My dear friends Alex and George, hope you enjoyed your Aki feast. It looked absolutely delicious! You honor Japanese culture with your carefully prepared and fabulously presented dishes. Alex, there is a small gift your you in the mail, though it may take a few weeks. Sending my love to both of you at the time of this glorious feast and hope it is/was well enjoyed.

Flowers and Feast

Holidays are treating me well as I have plenty of time to relax and unwind from the seemingly impossibly challenge that was last semester. Continuing kanji classes in preparation for next semester when I shall be in the same class as the Chinese and Korean students, though most days are hima.
中日いけばな - Ikebana Exhibition

Emily and Gretchen received tickets to  an Ikebana exhibition in Sakae and graciously allowed me to come with them to view it. Turns our that their teacher at Kinjyou is rather famous for her Ikebana as her father created a popular style. The exhibition was marvelous and I'm grateful that I was able to go.

Shall have to have an event when I return home to show all the creations, though have included my favorite 4 in this post. ^_^

Evangelion

Managed to catch the Evangelion exhibition in one of it's final days and spent the last of my money on merchandise. Here are just a few Kaworu things that I have accumulated since coming to Japan. Have loved Kaworu ever since I first watched Evangelion and my love for him has only grown.

Also, I received a TV and speakers from Justin before he left. They belong to John, are super awesome for watching movies and I should be able to hold onto them until he returns.

Graduation

Congratulations to all my awesome friends!!
Yesterday everyone (except me) graduated from their exchanges at Aichi Shukutoku Daigaku. Akemi gave a speech and it made me a little teary. :( Wore my dressy dress with my hair out and got a number of compliments which I was not expecting.
31 Likes on Facebook - Achievement Unlocked.

Most of the students from countries other than China and Korea will leave in the coming weeks, though Laura and my Chinese friends (including Lin) are here until August doing normal University in Japanese.

Feast

Last night we had a feast of three tables worth of food, some made by students and others by teachers who also attended the event. I made my blue star cookies again and they seemed to go down well despite everyone filling up on the other delicious mains first. My favorite dish of the evening was one with eggplant made by Susei and I hope she will make it again next time.

Some dishes
- Fruit salad (Abe Sensei - Head teacher)
- Star cookies ( me)
- Vanilla and chocolate sponge cake with raspberries baked in, cream and chocolate (Laura)
- Tacos (Justin - he had been promising to make it for a while)
- Gyoza
- My favorite dish (Susei - no idea what it's called)
- Lettuce, rice and curry (Toyoda sensei)
- Sweet coconut cake? ( Anchan)
- Karage
- Pumpkin pancakes
+ so many other dishes that I cannot even describe

The weather is starting to warm up.Thismorning it was "mushi atsui" which means muggy or humid.

Super excited for when my parents come to visit!!
Room is booked here and it's only a number of days. ^_^ Trying to think of things that I would like for them to bring over for me.
Received tickets for theSougetsu Ikebana exhibition from my wonderful and extremely kind Kado teacher Aoki sensei.  Shall take my mother along when she comes to visit for sure!

Hope to get around to writing some letters home in the next few days. ^_^ So you might receive those soonish.
